if anyone has been to a youth sporting event in the appy-big stone area you'll understand that this lady firmly believes what she has written. the problem is that she or other members of her family has walked into dugouts or walked on courts to display her frustrations. so devils07, this is for real but the henry woman has no clue.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
I was a bench warmer too and im not afraid to admit it. Yea at times i thought i should have been playing when i wasnt but i could understand why i wasnt. Hell i played at a position that u need to be a little bit taller to play i understood that. I did not mind at all cheering for the starters on the sidelines and attempting to burn them at practice.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
Perfect example of how parents/athletes think today. It's getting worse and worse, people.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
what can be any more fair in sports than saying this?
the best players play.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
Can I assume that you know this person? If it is who I think it is, then she has been a nuisance for the whole area.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
"In my opinion, these practices have to be stopped. They have to change, to be modified. Those in authority need to be taught to make things better. I believe all those in authority need to be good models for our children, and our children's children. In my opinion, decisions on who gets to play and who does not should not be monopolized by coaches, when these decisions make our children feel low and unwanted. I think our children should not be victims because they like to play sports. If they try out and make the team, I believe all students should have the same chance to play as their teammates, to be treated fairly, to have the same rights. What's fair is fair! And what is right is right! This is wrong, very wrong!"
This part is stupid. If the coach doesn't decide who gets playing time, who should? The parents, the administration, the kids. You want to open a bigger can of worms. You want a bigger popularity contest. Then take that control away from the coaches. If any one says some else gets to play because they are the coaches favorite. Ask yourself this question, why are they the Coach's favorite. I can tell you why, because that kid has busted his/her butt on the practice field, weight room etc. Do coaches play favorites... YES the people who work the hardest and are best at the job. Do people in the business world play favorites... YES who ever is better, get better things.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
Lets let the fans vote who and who doesnt play. Im casting the first vote : I vote that Tim Tebow is one of Urban Meyers faves and he should sit out the Tennessee game. Meyer is monopolizing Tebow.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
I know this lady and her children. Her son is a very good ball player in all sports. He deserves more play time. He practices hard and is a good all around kid. As far as the comment about going into the dugout. I was there the night you are refering to and she didn't go into the dugout. She was just standing up to someone who runs there mouth constantly. I also think that she is speaking for others not just her own children.
Re: Fairness needed in high school sports
Thats bull-she never went into a dugout-she was just standing up to a trouble maker!
